great tutorials from great artist, that helped me a lot :)

1) Avians with and without hands.

bone structure in avians with and without hands. the length of the arms can vary depending on the bird.

2) Avian hand variation.

a) human hands. no claws or scales, as useful as normal hands just boring
 b) human/bird hands. short claws instead of nails, hardened skin and scales.
 c) human/bird hands II. some avians can have less than 5 fingers in their hands and they look more like bird toes.
 d) "raptor hands". They don't work as well as all of the above, and may not be as good for grabing heavy stuff.

3) wings.

 a) Gliding wings.

Often shown in avians who live near the coast. Perfect for long distance flying but not as good for quick movements or flying in hampered spaces, due to their length these avians need to run to takeoff and are able fly without flapping their wings, but they are dependient of wind currents to fly.

 b) Soaring wings.

Eagle and vulture avians show this kind of wings, perfect for flying between mountains and even above them, those who possess these wings are specialised in high altitude flying and very resistent to thin air and the freezing temperatures. they need some help to takeoff, usually jumping from a cliff or any other high place. With some help of the mountain winds, once in the air, they can stay there for hours.

 c) Eliptic wings.

Perfect for acrobatic and long distance flying also exelent for rapid take off due to their width, those who posseess these wings will be able to fly between forests for extended periods of time tirelessly. they may not the most silent flyiers, but they are silent and fast enough to be unnoticed if it's needed.

 d) Rapid takeoff wings.

The name says everything, those who have this kind of wings will be able to takeoff from everywhere even horisontally in less than a few seconds. they are agile and fast, being able to fly between forests and cornered spaces, even better than those with eliptic wings. Due to their wings being so small, they can't fly for long periods of time, and need to stop and rest between every hour of flying.

 e) High speed wings.

These are exelent for fast diving and flying without need of flapping, therefore, avians with this kind of wing are able to stay in the air for long periods of time and be the fastest of all. Despite being agile and able to make tight turns, it's too dangerous for them to fly in hampered places, because there's a chance to get hurt if they crash with a branch or a rock at these high speeds.

-fun fact, swift avian may be able to sleep while flying-

Are the primary feathers attached to the back of the hands in place of the carpometacarpus?
